That hill is an absolute ball breaker i thought i was going to die, we were doing well until the the axle in the CV snapped. We did finish within the DNF time so all wasnt lost.
ON sunday Mani filled the clutch with some of victorias finest mud and DNF'd stage 11 aswell.
Laurie destroyed his rear diff for the second time on SS.6 on the rocky section, unfortunately this put him out for the rest of the comp.

I was watching from the bottom, and yeah, that hill is a ball breaker. Would be even worse driving it! I also reckon that if you hadnt done that CV, you were one of the closest to driving it. Top job mate, and I know HOON had an awesome time on that stage too. Congrats to you both.

Hey Ossie, I enjoyed watching you and Steph over the weekend. I was with Hobbzy shooting the DVD, and only saw you guys smiling all weekend. It didn't show the problems you guys were having.
It brought much amusement to us when Steph yelled out "Hi Steve" at the top of the hill at SS11!!
I didn't realise there were so many outers people there, I wish I had of known then, so I could say G'day.
We had an awsome weekend competing . All the stages were very challanging and some of those winches were bloody steep . Thanks to all the compeditors and marshalls for a great event . Cheers shane............

As for Steph's' "Clear Winching, Hi Steve" on Sunday, she is dissapointed she didn't say "Hi Hobzee" and make it more personal. We were told by many people that the crowd went silent after she made that call.
another thought might be to have a large map at the start of each stage that shows your current location and a description of the stage. Describe what sort of track it is, what sort of spectating to be expected and how hard the terrain is to get down to the spectating area

Guys I got back from the event about 9:00 pm last night after the almost final clean up. I took a well earned break and left the nerd box alone.
Someone took my only copy of the final placings so I will chase up another copy and get it posted asap.
This is excellent constructive feedback guys - all good points and we will take them on board.
For next year I am looking into a whole of event wireless pa system that will allow us to feed from each stage as well as have an overall pa director co ordinating this, in car commentry and now you have asked for it maps at each stage. As said printing is a huge exercise and at this stage our budget still doesn't allow.
Thank you to everyone who attended, your attendance meant we could give away such great prizes at the end. Birrdy was blown away by 5K in the hand for first place. No other event has prizes like that.
If I can improve the show so that you come back with your mates that didn't make it this year then I will try and do it! The more interest we have the better it gets - for everyone, sponsors, spectators, competitors, marshals.
Finally to all the competitors - well done! I had a ball chatting with you and the way you conducted yourselves was fantastic. Not only that, the way you guys cleaned up after yourselves in camp was great. I could see you had used your own rubbish bags and there was very little mess. Unfortunately we had to pick up an axle and cv off shearwater track and a steering box from the front gate, but overall very minor, so well done.

I have to say it was one of the better organised events I have been too. Where else do you get some hub gnomes locking you in
I reckon a few more marshalls helping direct and inform spectators would be good and some of the competitors need to also follow the speed limits as there were a few driving pretty quickly on the roads with spectators walking along the roads

HEY!!! I've been called a lot of things but gnome is definately a first.
My hands are still cramped like "the claw", you bastards need to service your hubs more often.
Keeping up the charming and witty banter is where I really come into my own ...
Attended on the Sunday for the 3rd year and loved it (again!) The spectator spot at the bottom is great - you can basically see three stages running. Ok the walk from the carpark takes a while, but who cares? Just listen to the horsepower echoing thru the bush.....
The bright yellow Rangie was my mate Russell and he finished for the first time after breakages the past 2 years, and only dnf'd one stage, so they're rapt, and his winch monkey was his son Justin who has never done it before and did extremely well! Apart from a starter motor prob, the Rangie is ready to go for the next one!

Excellent feedback - your happy and you want to come again and this is how I can improve my service to you for next year.
The top speed we clocked on the radar was around 25 kph. Sounds like we could of set up in the middle of the main access road somewhere. The highest alcohol reading was .01 so I was happy with that.
One of the stages on Sunday where the cars started sort of in the center went right down a straight, and then right into the hole..
We watched Kermit (amongst others) start, go right down the straight foot to the floor - towards the crowd standing behind 1 piece of plastic bunting, and lock up heading straight towards said crowd, and they nearly came to a complete stop as they nearly overran the turn which had no run off, well they could have used people as brakes...
Now, thats just a nightmare waiting to happen just there.
If printing out maps for every spectator is too hard or costly (understand no point printing out 3000 of them with 2000 turning up, or even worse 5000 turn up!), what about some 10ft x 6ft boards (eg on sunday at base of hill) with a Mud map on it.. Just something basic doesnt have to be a picasso, but sure some thing basic could be done by a signwriter for a few bux. maybe another one at other end.. to say there isnt anything further on.
We didnt even know there was a 'bridge' where you could cross the track on the sunday into the infield towards the far end until we walked around the back of the boghole crossing where there used to be a barbed wire fence.
hopefully should get the rest up in the next week or two.

Great event robbo, all the stages held up well and stayed consistant. Loved the long winch ,long hill climb stages.didnt like one big mother gum tree which wouldnt get out of my way on fri nite.Does anybody no where i placed in the end.(car 18 Greg Scanlon) as i didnt pick up a printout.

I thought it was funny when she climbed out the window and was setting up the winch cable, yelling, sounded like she had no voice left, or some bloke whose balls had not dropped.... many commented that that chick is nuts doin that (when they stalled on the hill section behind the boghole...
