1984/85 Hilux Power & Non Power Steering Column Question

Post by Tassie Trent »

Hi all , I have a 1984/85 Toyota Hilux 4x4 LN65 single cab (solid/beam axle model). I am going to fit fit a power steering box to this 4x4 (this originally a not having power steering on this 4x4). My question is - are the steering columns the same length on the models fitted with power steering to those not having been fitted with power steering ? Are the steering boxes the same length ? cheers.

yes the colum is the same and you need a pwr steer box wich is a simple bolt on job and the lines and pump/resivoir, i just done this same thing on my 86 4y LN67

did my LN65 about 8 years back. By far the easiest way is to get a complete setup from a wrecker or parts importer, from forerunner etc. Cost me $1000, but it was all there. Took about 5 hours to fit and was like a new car. But I imagine it would be a mega-hassle making up the pipes etc as there is lots of bits. Might be a false economy making parts for it?
