Fiberglass windscreen sourounds

Post by built4thrashing »

I have seen that there are fiberglass replacement windscreen frames available for the jeeps and old FJ40 cruisers buit can you get these for the sierra? My frame is about stuffed (rusted) and need to get a replacement one and would get the fiberglass one if i could.

any info on these would be great.

Theres a company in New Zealand that make fibreglass panels including the cab itself. I can't remember where I found it - someone else might have more info maybe...

Here's an Aussie company:

They might do the panels you need.

Thats what rotazuk (who posted the 4wd fibreglass link) has. Widened LJ80 Front clip (widened 100mm) on his 413. Looks good and heaps of clearence for bigger tyres. Hopefully he can post a photo of it as i dont have any of his vehicle on my puter. The whole front clip/inner guards hinge off the 413 bonnet hinge so makes it easy to do any work on the motor

Strength wise I wonder how good these bits would be. The panels look really good and would make a change from the standard rusty zuk panels if they hold together well.

Speaking of fiberglass.. Have u looked at Prime Mover trucks. they have F/glass bonnet. In a major crash, they're all stuffed like plastic but cracked and bent everywhere.

I repair those sort of thing.

F/glass alone won't last as long as steel frame due to vibration and abuse to it. I'd go for it if it got steel frame inside the f/glass for reinforcement also the F/glass will act like a 'skin'.
