I really want some coil spacers as a budget way of lifting my vitara. What is the cheapest way to get hold of some? I mean all they are is a chunk (obviously of the right shape) of steel or poly urethene that you wedge in right? I have had no luck in tracking any down. Would it be cheaper to get someone to fabricate some?
Also my springs are the originals so do i have to worry about my shocks and struts at all? My point being that the springs are probably at least an inch shorter than new.

Pretty orange ones.
Note how they are made the lip on the inside to fit in the top of the spring seat and then tapered so they run around the spring.
Less chance of spring falling out.
He sold me just one to balance the rear of my car and sells them on eBay.

how much lift do you want? what kind of off roading do you do, or will you do?
do you want a good working suspension system, or just lifted to fit bigger tyres?
are you trying to get good flex? or do you want a capable rig?
lockers might be money better spent.
if you have looked in the vit bible, you would have read that you can get 2" lifted coils put in, and all you would have to do is flip the front strut mount, and then get some 2"-3" longer shocks for the back. supercheap sell longer shocks for about $45 ea.
if you want a good capable rig, a slight sus lift, and lockers will get you a lot of places, but you might need sliders. it just depends on where you want to go, and how far you want to take it, because i dont think doing things twice or more is really worth the trouble.
if you get coil spacers, you will need to take the coils out, and then later when you get coils, you will also have to do the same thing. so if you get coils now, you will only have to do the fitting once.
please, if you have time, or can be bothered, have a look through the vit bible, and see how other people have lifted their vits. there is info on the different types of lift, including coil spacers, and how to fit them, and coils, which uses the same method to fit and replace. there is also a lot of strut and shock tech too, so you will have some idea of how things are going to work.
new struts are not longer than the factory ones, and the only longer ones on the market, that are good, would be the OME ones, which are 30mm longer, or 1". shocks can come in a billion different sizes lengths and so on, but the longer ones may be too stiff for the vit, and you may have to look for something else that has better/softer valving.

My tyres are only 235 AT's but they are exellent and have heaps of tread so i dont plan on getting bigger tyres just yet. I really dont have major traction problems, I just want a bit of lift to get her guts of the ground.
