Which Fairlead
I just got a highmount winch and i dont have a fair lead for it. Im using wire and im just wondering which is better the roller fairlead or the same style as the guys with rope use???
You can use either rollers or a steel hawse. In my opinion the rollers are better for wire cable because there is less friction. The bonus of the hawse is as MKPatrolGuy said, it doesn’t protrude as far out therefore can give you better approach angle. An added bonus is the hawse doesn’t damage as badly as rollers when negotiating steep climbs.
