What transfers will my PTO fit?

Post by dogbreath_48 »

I'm looking at selling my PTO + winch, so need to know what vehicles it will fit.

It's currently fitted to my 87 HJ75 5 speed.
I assume it will fit all 60's and late 40's. Will it fit auto models/4-speeds/3-speeds etc? what about LJ/RJ's? Will it fit later model (HZJ)75's, or even 80's?

What i'm really asking is what transfer i have, and what other toyota's use this transfer!

id take a guess and say your running a h55F 5speed box, pretty sure most of these allow for a pto off the main gearbox shaft.

the thing ive found with the pto's is that the winches can be different widths. dibbz picked up a pto that he assumed came from a 60 only to find that his chassis rails where too wide. the other thing is the length of the pto shafts, although these can be made to length if required.

hope this helps.

I think that it know as a split transfer cos the early ones where i piece and 80 series and 100 have a new one.I saying this because off the marks web page for the crawler where the 40and 55 are the same and the 60and 70 are the same.

the late (post 81?) 40 and 55 had the split transfer aswell.

so yes im pretty sure it will fiot every 40 45 55 60 75 with the split transfer.

I have read somewhere that not all transfers have the PTO gear in them. Pretty sure i read it on here somewhere.

shorty_f0rty, were do ya reckon i could get one made? Im needing the last shaft, (u-joint one end and splined on the other) shortened by about 100mm. I built a new bumper for my 60 thats got the PTO winch nice and tucked away but im struggling to come up with a solution to the shaft problem.

sorry for the hijack :D

Watch out for the PTO gearbox bolt pattern - there at least two different ones that i know - right now i have a pto on a later model four speed t/case, which is different to the 88' model 5 spd tcase that i'm running. But, i've seen on pirate (or somewhere) where they've modded the bolt pattern to fit, so i'll have a look into doing that, otherwise i'll be looking for a pto gearbox just like yours (Stu).
