u got lucky.... my old GQ did a head gasket on the way home from melbourne.......

bloody thing blew the gasket at number 5 cylender...

when i pulled the head off i saw corosion etc on teh head water jackets etc etc which has cause the surface area around that jacket that had a gasket on it was very small...

i took it in to get it check and ended up having to have all the water jackets welded up and re drilled and a machine of the head to get it flat and half the valves to be replaced.....

definatly get it checked while u have it off.... look at all the crap that was wrong with mine ;)
if i had changed the gasket and put it back in it would have blown again a few months later....
