i have a ln106 hilux with 33x12.5, 4" lift, bull bar, rails.... etc
My brakes are shithouse, has any one upgraded to disc brake rear end (like maybe 80series brakes and booster). I have changed the fluid and properly bled the lines.
Also how much difference would expensive pads and drilled and slotted rotors make?
soft pads on my LN106 dual cab made a huge difference to the stopping power on the front... which was then completely negated by the extra pedal travel the 200m extended brake lines soaked up!
Werent the 2.8D 4 Runners disk rear braked? those would have to be a fairly easy swap!
when you lifted it did you adjust the brake bias back to normal or did you just leave the rod as it was, try unbolting the rod and cable tieing it up and see how the brakes are.
I also have 96 Ln106 2.8 turbo new pads new rear shoes drums machined
booster replaced master cylinder done up new rear wheel cylinders plenty of vacuum damm thing still wont stop so when you work it out let me know.
I have disc brake rear on my LN106 and am running 39.5 TSL/Boggers.
I had the same problems and found the rear discs improved the breaking heaps i also put slotted rotors. The other mod that made a real difference was putting streat legal braided front lines.
The rear disc conversion is from Offroad industries.
