80 series bodylift, mudflap and bumper fitting

Post by bruiser »

Have an 80 series which has a 2 inch bodylift.
Currently have no mud flaps or bumber ends (bumperettes, or what ever you call the plastivc corner bits.) on the rear bar

Want to put all the back bits on. Is there any problem or tricks to fitting this when you have a bodylift.

Have not had them on in so long, but it looks they connect the chassi to the body, which i'm thinking could be a bit trick seen as they don't allign anymore.

Any info would be great thanks
Burnsy.

Get some aluminium tube and cut the same lenght as the bodylift and some longer bolts and raise it all up..

Not quite sure what you mean RV
I'm not talking about any gaps as such, dont care about that.
But do you have to modify one of the fixing points?

Firstly the mud flaps won't line up. The bumpers are mounted on the chassis at the rear and on the mudflaps at the wheel ends. This is where the mud flaps hold the bumpers to the flares & body.

Basically you need to lift the bumpers by mounting those steel reinforcements higher and then space up the centre alum step same as the bodylift height.

In my opinion not worth worrying about unless its just a temporary measure. Look at making a new rear bar that gives you better departure angle!

For the bumpers.... you can bolt them up to the chassis right, then cut a strip of steel or alum to attach where the mudflap holes on the bumper is to the guard and that should make it leveled.

if u raise the piece of alloy step thats in the middle of the bumper by spacing it up like RV said then it should all line up ok.. u wil jsut have to trim the bits at the very back and bottom of the bumpers to make em fit of the steel at the back properly..
