schwitzer turbo
schwitzer turbo
Does anyone know if you can put bigger turbine wheels in the schwitzer safely without maching the housing to thin. Has anyone heard of the housing cracking before?
The problem i have is, i have tightened up my wastgate rod all the way and have tried putting washers under the bolts to space the wastegate out further to run more boost but it wont go over nine pound even with a bleed valve in the vac line. Any susgestions?
What is the main mods to get GQs going good apart from exhaust and pump mods, i have a 2 1/2 exhaust with no mufflers, putting a front mount on soon and fuel is wound up a bit but just doesnt seem to pull like its got a turbo. Any susgestions?

Re: schwitzer turbo
any chance you can edit that and make it readable?
Re: schwitzer turbo
have you ever had it setup or tuned by someone who knows what they are doing?mattlux wrote:and fuel is wound up a bit but just doesnt seem to pull like its got a turbo. Any susgestions?
personally if you want more power change your turbo setup all together sell what you and do it properly from the start.
get a different manifold a high mounted roller bearing turbo and a front mount intercooler and you'll get it pull like a true turbo diesel. The when the funds allow get the pump done and you'll be getting your 150kw at the rear wheels.
aus4wd racing do kits intercooler, custom roller bearing turbo, 4" snorkle may be worth dropping in.

funny you mention that, lookin at Mannys GQ at the Ateco, he runs what looks like twin 2inch pipes for a snorkels/.... which i would have thoguht would be less efficent than 1x3inch...morkz wrote:4" snorkle may be worth dropping in.
Turbo setup, I want the one off Ossies car, fuck that thing sounded INSANE!
don't know about bigger wheels but i have a schwitzer with a clipped wheel to spool up faster, 16psi boost and a top mount i/c. exhaust is 3" from the turbo back, no mufflers. intake is safari snorkel to GU diesel filter (RD28/TD42T). dyno tuned, and have just added an in line holley blue fuel pump to keep the fuel up to the motor.
puts out just over 150hp at the rear wheels, turbo struggles at higher rpm and used to run out of fuel on wide open throttle through the gears but hopefully the fuel pump will fix that. to improve across the whole range i'd probably have to replace the whole turbo with a different unit, my old DTS used to seem a better all round setup but the schwitzer does spool up a lot quicker. averages 15l/100km overall running 35"claws on road and 37" creepies offroad.
if you can't get over 9psi boost then i think you must be restricted on the intake as the schwitzer will definitely go higher with a bleed valve on the wastegate line.

mani's setup is 3" i saw it when he first built it up in qld its not that efficient if you have a look at alot of the turbo diesel trucks out there most are running 4" even rohan runs just a 4" snorkle.bogged wrote:funny you mention that, lookin at Mannys GQ at the Ateco, he runs what looks like twin 2inch pipes for a snorkels/.... which i would have thoguht would be less efficent than 1x3inch...morkz wrote:4" snorkle may be worth dropping in.

Thanks striped tomato, have tried with bleed vlave but cant get over nine, i am going to try holding the wastegate shut and see what happens.striped tomato wrote:don't know about bigger wheels but i have a schwitzer with a clipped wheel to spool up faster, 16psi boost and a top mount i/c. exhaust is 3" from the turbo back, no mufflers. intake is safari snorkel to GU diesel filter (RD28/TD42T). dyno tuned, and have just added an in line holley blue fuel pump to keep the fuel up to the motor.

Intake is turbo dyn airbox with safari snorkel.
You wouldnt know if you can get a three inch dump pipe for the schwitzer's easy and cheap? if not i will just make one.
When you get it tuned make sure they do it on a dyno! I got mine done this way and it makes a huge diference and only costs about $125 Cheap when you think about it!
