Has anyone installed a Les Richmond ute kit before?

I know a few of you have built your own utes but just wondering if anyone has used the kit.

Yes. I have spoken with Andrew and they don't actually make the kits anymore but he can get all the individual components needed and it is a fair bit cheaper. I only want to use it to make the cab.

Would be interested to hear how anyone else went building it.

I used 1.6mm sheet for the back of the cab and a 70 mm x 100 mm box section made of 1.6 mm sheet for a horizontal brace, mine is full bodied so i used the top tailgate cut down for the rear window.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

can you stick up a pick of yours loanrangie?

mine got cut behind the roof support (in line with the body mount behind the front door) and we used 50x50 box with some cross bracing back to the body mount. and some 1.6mm plate for the back wall tacked onto the box, rolled the roof over and structual rivets and some sikaflex to keep the alloy off the steel.

That rangie looks like its running D2 or P38 rims.

I think its on a D2 chassis as it has a td5 in it.

i dont know about that one, but the poms also have adaptors/wheel spacers to adapt a D2 wheel to the D1 stud pattern. Advertised in LRO fairly often.

Now that would be a waste of time since there are more rim options for a D1 than D2, other way around makes more sense. I am positive it is on a D2 chassis/ running gear.

What is the right price????

Andrew won't give a firm price, but for the cab only it is around the $1200 mark. I am waiting for him to email me with exactly what you get for that money.

Well a Panel Beter mate of mine quoted $1500 drive in drive out, but that was 2 years ago and no paint.

Wow, I reckon that is a good price.

I think one of the hardest bits to get right would be the roof line. To get the roof to round down at the rear and have the gutter. A lot of people just cut it and do a square edge but I don't like that look.

If I could get a drive in - drive out for $1500 I would take it.

Mate, if you can find somebody who'll do a decent job for that price let me know 'cos I'd be keen. With regards to the LRA kit, is the rear cabin section also suitable for a two-door?

I had a reply from LRA re their ute kits. For everyone interested this is what you get if you want the cab only.
The parts I can supply to do the cabin will be as follows. 1 x roof capping 1 x rear panel for rear window 1 x full set braces for rear panel. 2 x rear upper 1/4 vynal trims (un trimmed) 2 x supporting brackets to suit 2 x rear door replacement panels (you will need to cut these for a tray) 1 x rear floor main brace for rear panel 2 x outer window trims

Can also supply 2 x 1 to 1.5 foot panel with door end infills which you
will need to trim off from the rear corner to the rear panel.

For all of this which is most of the ute kit will be at a glance around
$1500.00 . All steel parts are not plated and will need to painted etc.

This is a guide and will depend on quantity and cost of parts etc.

I hope al that makes sense.

To make the roof look right you need to cut a section out of the middle of the roof and then join it so you end up with the gutter going right around.
I have already done this to mine and it is fairly easy.

NOPE

glass roof complete you have to remove gutter from yr own roof and add to glass roof...

so no cracks 6 months down the track in the roof.... look original!!

I am even going to fit my sunroof to it :cool: :cool: will have tilt only action but will one of a kind rangie ute
