Just wondering is it illegal to use and if not why arent they common in 4bys?

Not illegal as nearly every truck has them.

reason they arent used on 4bs is they are pretty much useless on em according to a dude on EOz that fitted one of them $1100 units up. He tows a very large van around aussie (old retired I'm gayer than aids!), and wanted a bit more brakes.

And no, a hilux with 300 ariels, 12 mudflaps, and bundy stickers wont sounds like a Mack Titan coming up to the lights with exhaust brake running, apparently they sound like a HQ with a squashed muffler. :rofl:

Yes, quite right! I had an 80 deisel that I bought with an exhaust
brake already fitted. It actually worked real good both on the highway
and in the bush. But really not worth the $$$$$$$ and the pain
and suffering to fit it. It sounded like a wet fart!!
