Ifs to solid 4runner
Can any one see any problems with swapping a 89 ifs chassis for a 84 solid chassis. thay are both 4 runners and the solid chassis is in good condition the body and motor eF'ed were as the ifs is ifs. To me it would seem eaiser and cheaper to swap them over as any fool with half a socket set should be able to do this. Than to cut and weld on a new front it would also save enginnering I think.
Do the solid front end 4runners have the wider track diffs are thier front ends tough etc.
Has anyone done this before?
Any input would be good.
Thanks for your help.

If you dont have panel damage you ain't trying hard enough
Not a lot of work required. 2nd last set of body mounts need to be moved forward and down, the body mounts also ist at different hieghts so a few spacers needed, then you need to decide what steering you want, go with IFS box and do crossover. Will need to mod chassis for IFS box. If your 89 is leaf rear then tank etc will bolt up. If your 89 is coil rear then a few mods for fuel tank and handpark cable and parportioning value all easy. The 84 diffs are 3" narrower.

Thanks Rascal they are both gen1 and my existing one is leaf sprung. To me it sounds like a much cheaper option and eaisier for a lad who's welding skills ar'nt that crash hot or to hot, not hot enough anyhow
i'm better at blowing holes in things
Have you seen/heard of this done before?
