you probably just need to unclip the surround and the actaul door release handle will stay with the door.

Mate, the handle fits on a spline and there is a circlip type of affair that holds it on. Look between the handle and the door trim with a torch and you should see it. You should be able to push it out with a screwdriver.

I could be wrong but I think you might find that the rubber grommet goes through the plastic and the metal door skin, so it holds it in place.

Either that or the rubber is actually pressed into a screw head. So, I would try getting that rubber off without breaking it, and then see what you discover.
This is not legal advice.

hi all

my mate rang up one of his mates that was out on a jetski and he knew how to get it off.

there is a plastic rim that clip over the door handle opener.
he said to use a small flat screwdriver and it would unclip.

it did

thanks all
