F78 Custom Snorkel....DONE!

Hey guys,

Finally finished my custom snorkel.

It's made with 3" Stainless and rubber elbows from Robertson Bros truck spares.

It cost me around $160 all up for parts, but i got the stainless for free off my bro-in-law :D (The prices I got were $50-100 for the pipe)

TJM Snorkle Head - $65
90deg Elbow - $19
45deg Elbow - $28
3" Stainless Clamps - $30 all up
Silicone 3" intercooler pipe - $11 (to join pipe from guard to airbox)
And a few dollars for stainless hooks (to mount onto pillar), rubber trim from Clark Rubber and some silastic. :D

Not bad for the price

And when driving, you cannot even see it's there... I was kinda worried about obscuring some vision, but it came up perfectly :D

Luke Cheers mate, are you thinking of doing the same?

I thought about riveting a hose clamp to the pillar, but i wanted it to sit away from the pillar a little bit, so the top cleared the door when opened, and to make it sit more even.
The brackets are stainless marine grade mounting hooks, pop-riveted onto the A-pillar, then clamped with 3" hose clamps. It's really solid.. you grab it and pull it and the whole car moves :lol: It's going nowhere... lol

The 45degree bend is sitting against the guard, so that also stops movement.
The 90 degree bend is really snug in the hole I cut, so that helps hold everything in place, along with the pipe going to the airbox.
I haven't got under bonnet shots yet, but it's completely different to a Roza anyways... i'll get some soon.

Nice work.
I reckon the stainless jobies s%$t all over the plastic ones.
Since doing a similar one on my rocky, I don't reckon I'll ever bother buying a plastic one again for my next fourby.

Like you said HotFourOk, once attached... they wont come off... tree branch or no tree branch.

I'll post some photo's of mine tommorow.... How do you post pictures here like those small ones on your last post HotFourOk??

yeah, I like the stronger type look of the stainless compared to the plastic ones :lol:

Looks heaps good mate :D Using no bends looks really clean

The only difference is I didn't have to secure it to the guard along the horizontal section

How effective are them lights on your roof? lol

Yeah its all one piece mandrel bent. I got the blokes at the exhast shop to make one from mild steel first from plans, then cut and shut it to get it just right. Then I took that one back and they copied it to a stainless one.
First one cost $50 then the stainless one cost $110.

The lights on the roof will be effective when I get round to connecting them. :roll:
The wirings half done, down to inside the body.
I have temporarily connected them before and they work well. I have them angled slightly to the side to help spot any skippies on the side of the road at close range.
They worked quite well....when connected.
