Looking for info from anyone who has got LPG on a GQ/Maverick. Got a mate who has the 4.2 Carby - Auto Maverick wagon, and is looking at putting LPG on it.
Questions for now are:
What system to go for, I believe that there are a few differing types,
Where is the tank mounted, can it be mounted to keep the main fuel tank as well,
How does it effect original power.
Any info would be appreciated.

I have an impco unit in mine, there is a huge (105 usable litres, prolly 120 all up) gas tank under the rear floor where the original petrol tank was, and a new petrol tank ("coffin tank"), under the driver's side floor, which I guess is about 60 - 70 litres.
That tank arrangement is pretty much standard for gas conversions on LWB patrols.
I don't feel any difference between petrol and gas for power.
I would not hesitate to add gas to a TB42. It is saving me a fortune in fuel.
Only thing is you can just about buy a dual fuel GQ for the cost of getting a gas system fitted!

When I bought mine it was straight petrol (highway 22l/100Km around town 27L/100Km, I got sick of paying $1.30per litre so I gave the carb the flick and replaced it with a throttle body from a xf flacon with a adaption plate and ran a Impco 225 miver and a L series convertor, I was told to remove the vacume advance,(which reduces you max ignition timing by about 8 degrees) and then set the base timing at 14BTDC, I think it should give you a max advance of 36Degrees BTDC. LPG loves heaps of base timing and less max timing then petrol.
I was running Straight Gas. I had as much or mayby more power on gas then petrol and I was using 23L/100Km around town and 20L/100Km on the Highway. I have 92L under back and the tank is not that low with a 2in Body lift, I also have a BIG 60L "Jerry Can"
One thing if you go LPG Get Electronic Ignition Like Pertronics Ignitior, Points will do nothing but P!55 you off.
P.S Turbo's also love LPG
