Snorkel For Petrol Motor.

Post by CWBYUP »

I have a LJ80 and am worried about filling the engine with water. I have the know how to build a snorkel but what other things do I need to look at before i can atempt big holes.

A lot of the local tracks are mostly mud so I need to do something.

Diff breathers for sure.

You might want to consider relocating your alternator as high as possible in the engine bay, too.

When you make a snorkel, don't trust ANY of the stock plumbing to be water tight. Fit your snorkel and then follow the air all the way into the carby and make sure there is nowhere you haven't made watertight.

It's a good idea to use duct tape at joins so you can easily see if it is failing or damaged...

when i first did my snorkle i didnt do any thing else and the car would stop long before water got any where near goign into the intake.

i added a dizzy breather , silliconed up the dizzy and leads and also took the air box off and went over it sealing up all the holes. runs great now

Thermo fan so you can turn it off when in water, mechanical fan will spray the engine.
