1UZFE is a bit small for an 80 isn't it? Got any other choices of motor, or do you happen to have one of these lying around.
I talked to quite a few people with 5l V8's and 5.7l V8's and some of them regret not going bigger.
Interested in your thoughts, and of those who have done V8 conversions into the 80's.

Cheers

When I had a 1uzfe in the 80 is was a bit doey. I wasn't that impressed at all, although it 35's on it and the auto was pretty slugish and I have my doubts about the tuning of it. Now that my new one has had the auto valve body done up and the 4.5 retuned some months back which goes really well i wonder what the 1uzfe would do in the right hands with the right transmission. On the search i have done if I was ever to go this way I would build a 4.7 and drop the 4.0 heads on it. They reckon they make big power......maybe. This way I would use a the 5speed auto box as well and just change the heads, put a piggy back computer in it and tune her up. I have been searching around for a wrecked 100 series V8 at the right price. The 1uzfe was bloody thristy, but again comes down to who tuned it

The standard 1FZFE makes nearly as many kw's and torque as a holden 5.0L. I think you would be wasting your money on the conversion.
If you want a spare 60 for bits-

As much as I think the 1UZ is god, it'd need more low end for a big 80. I wouldn't say not to go 1UZ, just spend the $ and get it blown  :D

If your just chasing more power, go for a turbo on the 4.5. This is a proven good modification for increase if kept responsible.
Why do you want to change the motor?
