Water Tank for a Jimny
Water Tank for a Jimny
I've built myself a drawer/cupboard system for the back of the Jimny and have been going nuts trying to find a water tank to fit a compartment.
Would prefer a gravity feed Flexitank type setup, so I can just pull it out when not needed and utilise the space. I've had a really helpful guy from Kulluyne Campers come up with a solution, but it involves pumps and taps and permanent fitment, hoping to avoid this though.
I need a maximum size of 42cmW x 75cmL x 20cmH - so the Engel will fit in beside it. I've emailed and rang a few places with sizing details, but the response has been slow to say the least, and is quite offputting.
I rang one guy from a well known franchise this morning and was asked if I took the measurements correctly and I may want to ask my husband to check them as they didn't sound right.
I told him I knew what the little marks on a tape measure were, told him to shove one up his arse and hung up. Head Office is gonna get a call Monday
Any ideas? As usual, being a Zook, not much room to work with.
<edit>
Why hasn't anyone come up with a range of generic bag/tanks? I was just hunting around and found those Solar Showers. Gravity feed with a good filler cap and a hose/shower rose attached.....all for around $15.00.
Makes you think, a slighter heavier plastic, lengthen the hose slightly and whack a tap on the end.
Sell them in 20, 30, 40 litre sizes.....they'd fit behind a seat, in a drawer etc....you could just roll it up and stash it when not in use.......surely some entrepreneur could get something going? Keep them under $100.....and you'd blitz the market.

DRS smells like a cat-food milkshake... and wet socks... and gorgonzola cheese... all whizzed up in a blender
Will post up some pics in the next couple of days, be mindful that it's still a bit away from being finished.
I'm the one who has been speaking to O/L, who have been great, but they don't have what I need.
I'm really after a flexible-type system, no dramas with plumbing and can be pulled out.
The box/drawer system in the back has a specific space requirement for the tank, so it sits under the floor of the unit (raised floor) and doesn't use up too much space.

This company was mentioned on another forum with respect to custom made water tanks and not having the taste problems of some. May be worth checking out.

try some camping stores that stock sea to summit gear. http://www.seatosummit.com.au/showdetail.php?Code=A2LT
it may only be 10lt but they take up very little space when not in use and cost around $25 but if you want a cheaper option use old wine casts, but you will have to drink the wine out of them first.
