GQ and GU chassis the same?

Post by toy77 »

G'day need a quick reply on this one.... ebay stuff.

i know alot of the suspension is similar, but is the chassis design the same?

basically i am trying to determine if an auxillary fuel tank (gas conversion) from a gu will suit my gq. it looks like the style that run down the drivers side next to the tail shaft.

Cheers stew

if there not the same you should be able to make it fit pretty easily, the chassis are near identical if not the same

I know the main fuel tanks are identical so i'd imagine they auxillary tanks would be the same.

You could always ring a 4wd shop and ask if the part numbers for the auxillary tanks in GUs & GQs are the same just to be sure. ;)

Cheers Mick.

the only difference is the cross member for the gear box on the gu it has a braket on the inside driverside of the chassis which the gq does not but both crossmebers are identical apart from that i have not notice any other differences

a little bit of hijack here but whats the go with the coil mounts on each model is it the diff mounts that are different or chassis mounts cause im find hard to believe that you could take say a 2 inch straight out of a gq and put it in to a gu and still get lift i dont know maybe its optical illusion or something so can someone explain please

cheers

Model for model, GU's are around 400kg, dry kerb weight heavier than a GQ, maybe that explains the lift question.
