just wonderin where anyones bought these from, and wat prices u's paid. lookin at gettin sum pretty soon. and wat offset would u's recommend for a lux, aimin at 3" wider track so wat would the offset be for that. be even better if any WA boys had sum places round town
One of the guys at tough truck mentioned that a place call brisbane trailer spares or something similar sell steel wheels and weld the offset to suit for about $70 a wheel. I'm sure one of the brisvegas guys could tell you more.
I did mine myself and by the time i brought the rims fliped the centers got them sandblasted and powder coated they cost me the same as they would have just buying them from the shops
15x8 roh rims $60 a rim x5 = $300
sandblasting x5 = $80
Powder coating x5 = $200
all up x1 = $116 each you can buy them
for about 110 fully done
if i knew sandblasting
and powder coating cost
that much i wouldnt have
bothered.

I think somebody took ya for a ride. Coupla months ago I got new 15x8 roh rims and had them powdercoated for just $20 ea. Being new, they don't need sandblasting- although I did have to gouge out the silicone around the edges b4 p.coating.
i had the same one as hunterlux has done and they weld up the old valve hole and they put a new one in a little bit further to its protected from the sticks and rocks

They were new about 1 year ago i fliped them then decided i didnt want them so they had been siting in the shed for ages and had goten a bit of rust where i had fliped it and hadnt painted so i got them sandblasted. I got them primed and powder coated on friday havnt got the bill yet because i got them done through work and the boss said $200 so he might have been having a go at me he did tell me the sandblasting was $80 a rim when i got them back from the sandblasters lol.
It cost me $50 a rim to get them cut and fliped, i got quoted $100 to sand blast all 5 rims. They couldnt do it quick enough for me, so i paint striped them.

anyone got more info on places in brisbane?
just shot an email to race engineering so will hear back tomorrow
Procomp have advertised 15" x 8" Black "D" Shaped Rock Crawler rims w/1.25" BSM (distance from back of rim to back of plate) for a $100 a rim. Might work out cheaper than custom wheels or getting a normal set cut, flipped and then painted etc.
I just got my 15x8s cut and flipped by a guy at Redcliffe. 2" more backspacing on each rim. $50 each wheel cash. Very good job and I had them tested at my tyre shop to make sure they run true on the balancing machine. They are off getting powder coated as we speak.
Cut & Flip - $50
Sandblast - $15
Powdercoat - $25
---------------------
Total each wheel $90 (all cash prices)
So how much extra offset translates to how much wear in the wheel bearings?
I'm just thinking that if the pro-comp rims end up cheaper, but going a full 2in each side will chew my bearings, maybe its better to compromise and go 1in each side and have the wheel bearings last longer.
How much difference does it make?

hey ray, any idea of a contact number for the place that offset your rims?

You have PM. If anyone else wants the contact details pm me as the guy does them from home after hours and I dont want to post his personal details here.

Cheers,

Allan does good work, I was very happy with my rims too.
Glad to hear it worked out well for you too Ray.
I stripped the paint of my rims myself with paint striper and a gurney. Then had them galvanised - cost about $20 a rim.

Absolutely, Ben put me onto Allan and I must say I'm very happy with the job and the price. Ben I was going to strip and paint them myself too but being so busy with work I didnt know when I'd get time to do it. I just picked them up from the powder coaters and had the tyres fitted back on. Here's a couple of happy snaps. I'm off to fit them up to the 40 now. Then off to Bunnings for some garden edging!
gday guys, i got a set of five 3.5inch off set rims from bob janes. i think they are called mangels or something like that. cost me $50 each with tyres. my mate had em on his hilux aswell, not sure of the measurements. would be worth asking them. if u want i might even be able to find the receipt and get a part number.
i've been considering doing this after finding out that the QLD engineering on putting 80 series under my truck is nigh on impossible and horribly expensive.
The way i see it, with running the offset rims only when wheeling and keeping an eye on my bearing torques i should be right. Even if i go through a couple of sets of bearings i will still be thousands of dollars ahead of doing an axle swap.
i have rung race engineering, they are charging 160 bucks a wheel.
i'll probably get them done elsewhere when the time comes but if you get desperate for a supplier that might be the go.
can anyone tell me how much the 3" either side would make the truck more stable? i have reasonable flex for the rough stuff it's more for the side slopes.
i found that with normal offset 35's fit well under my truck with 3" lift and extended bumps, but the offset will mean that i have to move the diff forward because of scrub radius.

Thats incredibly cheap, did I read that right? $50 for a new rim and a new tyre on it? Bit late for me now but I'd be very interested to get more details on this when you can. Even a pic if possible.
