Need help. High beam/spotties gooonne

Hi,

My high beam and spotties were working....for a very short while . then i drove over a few bumps, the lights went on and off then just went straight off. the then a smell in the cabin (like electrical burning smell).

My auto leccie said that there is a fuse or the like behind the dash which has blowen. he said it is about a $95 part. is this true, and is it easy to replace?

A $95 fuse? I think not. But are you sure he said it was a fuse?

for $95 you wouldnt want it to blow :lol:

I think your auto leckie is having a piece of you, sounds like dodgy wiring has touched and shorted, find and the replace the fuse, they are very cheap, ie I sell 120 bade fuses for $15 and trace and fix the short that caused the problem in the first place

Best thing I used while wiring up mine as a complete ametuer was a 12V test lamp.Can easily find the problem yourself.

i cant remember if he said fuse or switch. either way it was around a hundred buck part (apparently). i agree, i think it is juts a fuse, and yes, something had touched and blowen one.

So does most people think that the high beams and spotties obviously have a fuse, and this has blown?

all the elictrical gear (unless dodgied) will have a fuse to stop car fires and blowing expensive electrical gear

Stereo $1000 vs fuse 20 cents, you do the math

Like I siad if the fuse has blown I would be checking the reason why and fixing it

The auto elec wasnt talking about the combination switch wher they?

This is the stalk thingy that controls lights and indicators. It has a switch in for when you go from low to high. Mine had problems here. And wouldn't switch on high. Ended up with getting a new combination switch. Some are fixable, after pulling apart and using abit of emery paper to get rid of the carbon build up.
Think I payed more than that though.
