There are topics on here about slippery diffs that arent any more...do a search and check em out. Usually patrol diffs can be made to work again fairly easily wth some engine flush and a few oil changes...as they are pretty robust and dont uually give much trouble if serviced properly.

Did the problem occur when you put the penrite in ?
Maybe therin lies the problem
IMHO you can rule out water ingress as when this happened to me, mine was locked up nearly all of the time.
When turning it would "hop" around corners, until I changed the oil
I run Mobil synthetic, and my GQ has never been opened in 250k, without incident, except for when I ripped off the breather hose with excessive wheel travel, and water contaminated the oil.

Maybe worth an oil change, but I personally would wait until spannercrab or 1 of the mechanics lurking around here throws their 2c worth in.
It may need some work done but the nissan diffs are very tough.
It may be helpful to identify which diff it is for the gurus, the simple way being to count the bolts on the back of the housing (9or11) and post your year/model/engine

I use penrite 80-140 (i think) limmited slip and its great. I flushed the old crap out with engine flush and then put the penrite in and its fine. Mines done 240k.

H233b front according to the owners man. suggests api gl5 but no weight listed. I would say it is 140w. My CD manual lists 5.4/2.4 litres for the front!!!!! Cannot work out why it lists two diff. quantities. The rear being a H260 LSD is api gl5 lsd 140w at 4.7 litres. Al.

LSX 90 is TOO light for Patrol limited slip diffs.

this has been a post elsewhere on this forum.

My genuine workshop states to install limited slip 140 only.
