relay clicking probs

Post by guzzla »

hey boys,

wired up a mates compressor with relay and pressure switch super neat and 100% correct and when i finally switched it on the compressor ran like expected then seemed to slow after a minute or so then the relay started ckicking on and off real quick.

there are no leaks and there was next to bugger all air in the system.

the pressure switch is on the inlet side of the tank and the inline non return valve is just behind the pressure switch. the pressure release valve is on the outlet side of the tank.

i can only deduce that the pressure switch is rat pooh, any other ideas ?

thanks in advance.

So to clarify it is:

compressor, pressure switch, one way valve, tank??

If so I would be putting the switch as close to the tank as you can (on it own arm of a "T")

What I think may be happening is the switch is cutting in as the pressure in the air line increases, before it blows the one way valve open. In effect you are measuring the pressure in the hose (which is affected by flow through it), instead of measuring the pressure right next to the tank.

should be:

Compressor, one way valve ------------pressure switch
....................................................|
................................................ tank

(ignoring full stops)

i see what you mean but the non return valve is just b4 the pressure swibut they are both on the inlet side of the tank.

on my endless air i dont have a non return at all just a pressure release valve on the exit side and a pressure switch right at the end of the airline and it works fine.

maybe i shpould try this configuration b4 changing the pressure switch?
