No Electrics

Post by v840 »

I posted this in the auto electrical section but I thought id try here aswell.

Ive just bought a sierra with a 4age in it but the previous owner had lost the key (dont ask  ) so I took the back of the ignition switch off in order to start it with a screwdriver.
Now, as it was dark I accidentally brushed across two wires with the screwdriver causing them to arc. After this there was absolutely no electrics. Lights, hazards, indicators etc. all dead.
As Im no electrical genius I asked around and was told that it would either be a fusible link or the ecu. After hours of following the wires from the positive terminal I still cant find anything resembling a fusible link so Im not really sure what I should do. Ive checked the battery is ok and all the fuses in the box.

Is there anything else it could be?
Should I be doing something specific with my multimeter?
Does anyone know where the fusible link or engine fuse is on the sierras? (granted it could have been moved due to the engine conversion)

Cheers.

Problem solved. Found the fusible link right next to the positive battery terminal.

yeah its not looking too good for you is it.
ha ha

i made a switch that plugs into a suzuki wiring harness, as I had missplaced my keys. i did end up finding them but.

the barrel just plugs into the loom, so I made it so that all you do is put it in the plug, you just need to replicate that the acc is switched on and then another for the start.

I used a single position switch for the acc, and then a spring return switch for the start.

if you have the wiring diagram it is simple, if not a multimeter and some trial and error is easy, just need spare fuses.

obviously there is power to the switch and then just need to put a switch in to turn on acc, then one onto the start.
hey presto you have yourself a running zook! now go before the owner comes back!

hope that helps, if you still needed to start it.

or get another barrel!

enjoy ashley
