hi all. i am trying to get my 3.5 motor out of my NK 5 speed.
I have nothing left but the blockin it and can't find anything that is holding it in other than the clutch yolk don't seem to move enough to let go of the throw out.... what am i missing.....?????

why won't it let go

I think you will find that it has a "pull" type clutch as apposed to a push type, which means that the cluth fork, release bearing and pressure plate are all connected. I'm pretty sure you'll find a rubber grommett/blanking plug on the underside of the bellhousing. Just pop that out and i think from memory you can undo the bolt that holds the fork in and drop the shaft that is swivels on and she should come out with the clutch fork still attatched to the release bearing and pressure plate.
When going back together just set up the fork and r-bearing in the bell housing as you normally would, then once all together just push on the clutch fork and the bearing will "pop" into the pressure plate and will be retained by a circlip!

Hmmm good question. How big is the welsch plug? Is it big enough to get a spanner in to undo a 10/12mm bolt? It has been quite a while since i did one and i have only done it once. My memory isn't that great!
I'm pretty sure you have to remove the shaft that the clutch fork pivots on, so if you can work that out then it should all come apart. Wouldn't hurt to tap one side of the welsch plug in then you can pull it out with a pair of pliers or multi grips. Even if the plug does fall into the bell housing you can get it out and tap it back in once the gearbox is separated from the motor. Sorry man my memory is letting me down!

still havent figured out how to split the 2 peice thro out bearing...
but thats only a small problem at this stage.
the reason why im doing all this bullshit is coz i spun the harmionic balancer of the front about 12 months ago. replaced it and spun it off again 6 weeks later.
since then i have been just doing it up every time it has spun off.
the result of this action is... the front end of the crank shaft is farked.. the key way has rolled out of the groove. luckily for me the crank positioning sensor on the back of the drive cog for the timing belt sheerd the 2 rivoted pins off stopping the car from firing. the front main bearing is rooted on opposite sides indicating to me a bent crank. big ends are just starting to discolor . rings are prolly just as stuffed.
the info you gave me was much help & i think things will go back together well if i can rember where all the bits go. most things are marked.....
some are a worry but if theres a hole .. guess ill find a bit that fits.
love the 4 bolt mains....
