1.6 top end onto 1.3

Post by nicbeer »

I have and many have heard the 1.3 head and other bits will fit onto the 1.6 bottom end.

?? will it fit the other way around ??

I was thinking of using the 1.6 vitara DOHC EFI head or just the 8v vit head maybe onto my 1.3 block.

any ideas on this one.

cheers

are the chamber sizes the same?? i thought the 1.3 had smaller chambers. if that is the case, the 1.6 head wont have much compression. sad for an aspirated motor, but very good for a turbo.

The single point work well enough, I run it. Fuels a turbo fine.

hey stephen

I was thinking of you when I was looking at the conversion. Any points to look at when doing the wiring?. Found a complete assembly for $450 inc cpu.

Have you run that on the dyno yet.

If I can use a 1.6 or 1.3 head on my 1.6 block .. why cant I use a 1.6 head ona 1.3 block ?? AFIK the combustion cambers are the same size as the 1.6 block is marginally taller to compensate for the difference..

If I had the parts I would put it together just to see if it ran.

(I use a 1.3 head on my 1.6 with 1.6 exhaust valves and 1.3 intake to keep the air speed upp at lower revs .. at least thats what the head rebuilder guy told me)

I have not run it on a dyno yet runs well enough and is, easy to tune while driving. I used an aftermarket computer the wiring was so simple. Sam, overkill is also using the same tbi unit, he is also running an aftermarket computer. So not sure about the full factory kit, If you could find just the manifold and tbi, I paid $150 from wrecker and spend 2 or 3 hundred at best on an old haltech or microtech computer, I paid $200 for a Haltech 2nd hand about 6 years ago it has been on a few cars since I would say it is a simple conversion and big performance increase.
