2H turbo time

Post by G_loomis »

the $$$ are finally there for a turbo for the 2H. There is one thing that I want to know from other guys who have turboed their 2H...

What brand of turbo is it?...and at what rev range does it start to spool up?

So if anyone who has a turboed 2H could answer me those 2 questions it would be greatly appreciated. I have a short list of what makes of turbo I am looking at...just want some on/off-road information.

So basically...

Make of turbo

what revs does it start to spool up

What pound boost are you running

I don't own a turbo 2H anymore.

Before I sold my setup, it would start to spool at about 900rpm (about 1psi at 1000rpm) with 13psi at about 2100rpm from memory.

It was a schwitzer turbo (from a Denco kit).

I inherited a schwitzer from the PO, I think it is a bit big for the motor though as it doesn't start to spool untill 1500rpm and max's out about 10psi. It looks like a bit of a back yard job so I am looking at replacing it with a Garrett T3 watercooled turbo, from turbo tech (in Perth) or a 12HT :) which I can talk the misses into.

I'm also looking at this path. Carts, didn't you mention someone else on this site that had done a fairly successful conversion as well. Not so long ago from memory. I'm looking for specific info. Thanks in advance Red

i own a hj60 with an aftermarket high mount turbo kit .
uses a nissan turbo not sure what type it is and only have boost in kpa starts boost at about 1000 rpm and boosts up to 55 kpa ( approx 13 psi ) maxes out at 3000 rpm . a bit laggy bown low when climbing steep hills though . often have to stop change to first low and rev her up to get going cause it lags up in second low when the revs drop . bloody good on the freeway though still want more power .
have driven an arb aftermnarket low mount 2h as well seemed to pull a bit harder than mine but my engine is getting a little long in the tooth.
more money !.

Sixdeetoo bought my turbo/intercooler setup, and although fitting the intercooler in was a mission, it was very successful.

Hey. I had a Denco Turbo fiited recently. The difference is fantastic. When researching I found that they were a few brands that people recomended so I ended up going with the installer that I thought the most of. You can feel the difference at 1500rpm.

:D :D :D

I Have the turbo and intercooler setup carts refers to. Thanks to the wizardry of Dumbdunce who was able to get the intercooler in. It goes great. Came off a highway haul to wagga; fully laden with equivalent of what i'd take on a tour trip, successfully got 11.65 l / 100km.

The boosts isn't tuned as hard as carts had it, but it still eats hills and is if it were rolling on the flat, if (when) i consider 35's (33's ATM) I might turn it up a bit more.

If the motor is good - don't waste time. Your time in getting to places, and especially up hills.
2H Intercooled = It really goes.

Well it just happens to be a Denco that I ordered...it was between a Denco and Splitzer at the end.

There was great points mentioned about both turbos, but it the end I went Denco because of thats the brand that Redlands sell

turbo 2h

Post by beast2h »

ive fitted a arb turbo kit to my 75, it has been great i run around 10psi and it spools up at 1250 i noticed the most difference on the highway, a good example is a hill near by i went over the top at about 75-80 now holds 100. mine is tuned to get power but still get reasionable economy. it would go harder but im waiting for summer to tune it in the heat. note fit a good free flowing exhaust and the turbo is a non water cooled garret (t3 i think)
