Hilux 253 conversion - Alternator??

Post by sierrajim »

For those who have fitted a 253 to your hilux what alternator are you using?

Have mounted the Hilux power steer pump to the passengers side of the block if that make any difference.

Im running the standard Holden Bosch 55amp Alt on mine. It an 85 model with power steering. Bit of a job to get it to fit but. I put the battery on the left hand side for clearance , used a modified commodore top mount alt bracket and had to have the power steer lines out of the box modified so i could spin them around to clear the alt. Its very very tight but works pretty well. If you need anything yell and ill try and get some pics or something up.

Looks good, only problem is that's where i have my power steering pump.

Have ended up using a Holden alternator/ air con bracket (with air con mounts removed) on the top drivers side. Just needed to move my batery but was thinking of putting the battery in the rear anyway.
