I can get my hands on a motor out of a 04 79 series cruiser and was wondering if the motor and box would bolt up in my 92 80 series what mods are needed? thanks

your 80 will have a h series box and as far as i kno the 78/79 series run a r series box ...... wich is not as strong and have been reported to fail behind standard motors
i would think you could get a bellhousing from a later 80 or 100 and use your current box............. not 100% sure tho your current bellhousing may suit depending on your current motor

Re: 79 motor
If the motor is a 1HDTFE, yes the gearbox should bolt up as 79 series run H series box behind the turbo and petrol models. Only the non turbo 100 series runs R series box AFAIK.jimbo jones wrote:I can get my hands on a motor out of a 04 79 series cruiser and was wondering if the motor and box would bolt up in my 92 80 series what mods are needed? thanks
You may want to make some rough measurements for mounts, bell housing patterns etc before hand
