I'm in the process of putting new suspension under my GQ and removing the front shocks is proving to be a hassle.
The nut on the pin of the old shocks simply won't budge no matter what I do. I tried using an 8mm spanner to hold the shock in place while I try and undo the 19mm nut but it simply results in a broken 8mm spanner...
Any thing obvious I've missed? I've swapped pin ended shocks in other vehicles before and never had a problem. Even a liberal application of WD40 had no effect.

I used a set of vice grips to hold the shock and stop it from twisting, i used them on the weld near the top of the shock so you don't crush the shock, or if your not planning on keeping the old shock, one of mates actually puched a hole in the upper part of the old shock with a screwdriver to stop it from twisting.
If all else fails you could allways gas axe them off. I had to do it a while ago with a set of nitro charges that would not come loose no matter what we tryed. But the gas axe worked well and took about 5 min to all four bolts
