The event will be a combination of Navigation and driving skill, with all vehicles having equal chance of winning wether it be a 454 powered shorty on 49's or a Hyundai terracan.

It will have a Le Mans style start with a set time limit.

I will reveal more later.

Queensland Navigation Challenge 2007

The Event
The Queensland Navigation Challenge is a Punch style event open to all vehicles & competitors regardless of vehicle type, modifications, competition experience or anything else that normally precludes people from entering an event.

The event is a points based event with a set finishing time and is being held within the confines of Land Cruiser Mountain Park. The rules are designed to allow all vehicles an equal chance of winning the event and there will only be one class.

The basic structure of the event is there will be a number punches at various locations, you will be given the GPS locations of the punches. The aim of the event is to get as many punches marked off on your scorecard as possible within the time limit allowed. The locations of the punches will vary from easy to very difficult. All punches will start with the same number of points allocated to them, however, the final score will be dependant on how many people get to that punch by the end of the event.

Example:
If punches are worth 1000pts at the start of the event, and 10 competitors get to it, the final score for the punch will be 100, but if only 2 competitors get to it, it’s final score will be 500. If only one team reaches a punch, the punch will be worth 1000pts. You will have the opportunity to decide whether to go for lots of easy points or a few hard ones to really boost your score.

will there be a limit to number of competitors?

I, for one, am in.

I would also be happy to ensure the GC4wd Club is well notified and attended..

If you could let the GC4WD Club know that would be great.

I will see how numbers go at this stage, if it gets too crazy I will have to limit it.

Absolute max I think will be 100 cars.

Can you please clarify because I was of the beleif the all timed events held at cruiser park require the cars to have an internal cage. I have cage but would hate for others to attend only to find out it is infact required.
Cheers

I have been dealing with Alben on this, this event has a time limit but is not a "Timed" event. The time you take to complete the event has no bearing on the result unless you exceed it the finish time.

Therefore no cages are required.

As far as insurance goes, you will need to talk to your insurer as to what they cover.

Will the hard and easy GPS locations be listed before the event or is it up to us to guess which are the hard and easy GPS locations.

Is the whole event going to be a maximum of 40 kms an hour and how are you going to monitor the speeds.
