Holley + Leyland jet sizing

Post by shakes »

playing around with the carb on petrol this weekend in a mild leyland P76 motor (4.4 stroked to 4.8 with a 350 Holley)

under heavy accell it bogs down and floods and then when the revs start pickin up it fly's.... this is saying the jets are too big?

has anyone had any experience with roughly what size jets I should be running before I start takin some punts?

Jets , start out with 57 or 61 's and more importantly, check that the power valve is the right one, a number 85 will open earlier than a number 55.

Just out of interest, are you sure it is a 350, not a 500? The 500 has a distributor vac takeoff in the RH side of throttle plate, the 350 has one on the RH side of the emulsion block.

A 500 will give similar symptoms, because they have huge accelerator pumps, about twice the capacity of the 350.

Can you post pics?

got it semi sussed(had a mate of a mate over who played with holleys quite a bit)- it is definetly a 350, and I'm also missing a "spreader" piece in the top of the throat.

also got the receipt of the motor build from the previous owner and its closer to a 5ltr :D

Cheers
