Flogged centre bearing problem.

Post by Kev80 »

My brother has a lifted 85 Hilux and always has trouble with the tailshaft centre bearing flogging out, last time he changed it, it lasted about 2 months. (Aftermarket not genuine)

Have heard of people using a single shaft, does this reduce the clearance by much ?
Any reason why Toyota didn't do this from factory ?

What do you guys do ?
GXL Turbo Diesel 80 series- 6" King springs + Rancho in-cab kit- 35" BFG Muds Twin ARB airlockers.

It will reduce the clearance a little.
To compensate put the slip joint down at the diff end when you make it one piece.
Keep it simple

i went one peice coz my missus screwed my rear one of and at the time i need a new centre bearing and wanted a genuine job but a 320 or somthing i said fark that, i didnt want an aftermarket centre bearing as my mate had out in like 4 or so aftermarket ones in in a month so thats wot made my decision. and as already mentioned put the slip joint at the bottom 2 gain a bit of clearance back but it really aint that much 2 worry bout just get a good thick wall tube so that if u rest on it it wont kink easy
