Its a Prado. Australia has never been a big market for SWB's for i'd say thats why we never got it.

I've seen some huge spotties mounted to bullbars, but that's ridiculous.

There were plenty of shorties of all breeds around in the late 80's/90's (and before). Guess demand just died off.

they are both prado's i think those old prado's were all coil suspension pitty there aint many in aus

The first one cant be a Prado, looks more like a 79???, coil front.

light duty (hilux running gear) cruisers have been called prado's in other markets well before we got the 90 series prado out here. the "bundera" is labelled a prado in other markets, so that one could very well be a prado

Yes. Manufacturers were selling them, but not many people were buying them. Yes, you see shorty Patrols around, but nowhere near as many as long models. Same with Pajeros and Jackaroos.

I think the Defender 90 is the only shorty being imported at the moment (other than the Wrangler - does that have a lwb version?) although I've heard talk that Mitsubishi may bring the shorty Pajero back. I'll believe it when I see it.
