No they just clear. Am going to move the front axle a further inch forward this week, just to have that bit more.

All Superior Engineering gear now. Yes longer springs less leaves, new mounts further forward. Got the top shocky mount modified with shocks together. Flip kits front and rear, Shock hoops on the front. Need the wheel spacers to allow for the articulation so your wheels don't rub on your chasis when flexing. Ladder bar as well. I would say its probably a standard setup that Superior would do. I have tried a bit of different gear before and was always unsatisfied. Superior know what there doing and I would highly recommend them to all. In that photo the rear drop shackles had only just started to open, there was a heaps of drop still to go.

bit of a noob question but when you say longer springs do you mean a longer spring reset with a bigger arc and mounted on standard points or longer leaf and mounting points moved out further?
-Calvin
The rear springs are about 250mm longer - havent measured them, custom superior springs. Yes the forward mounts have been moved about 150mm further forward to suit.

so will longer springs and mounting points moved to suit help with flex? i would have thought that the arc would be relatively the same as standard or is it more about the length then how the spring sits when the truck is level

yeh the longer piece is easier to bend but will it bend further? thats the thing i don't understand. with your analagy (sp) the longer spring will be softer but will i get greater flex out of them?
-Calvin
with the longer springs, you can also use longer shackles/drop shackles more effectively as the drooping end of the axle can now move through a longer arc, further, basic geometry and trig dictates that for a given curve rate a longer spring will create a taller distance from the tangent point (axle mount) to the arc ends (spring mounts).
Stu, i wouldn't go the drop shackles as i have been told by all concerned that they can sometimes produce unpredictable unloading on side slopes. alright on a ute, but not so good for our troopies.
i have the u bolt flips, and 2" shackles already. by the time i get longer shock mounts fitted front (quoted 400 fitted), offset rims (400 bucks guesstimate), front diff moved forward, and longer main and wrap springs (quoted 1000 bucks from carrolls) i should get some ripper flex.
The problem i see is getting the springs set so that on flat ground and highway the rears can carry the extra weight between them(truck is a ,bit of a fatty at the moment), but flexing to the stops when all the weight is on one side during travel. At the moment they hold the weight alright but won't flex up in the rear as they are wayyyyyy too stiff
can anyone tell me if they can see those pics or just the link. still can't seem to get the linking right, but not sure if i'm the only one who sees the link
The link is dead. Comes up with images moved or deleted.
In terms of unpredictability of Superior drop shackles. I think you will find it comes down to setup. If you simply bolt a pair onto a standard spring you will have dramas. they perform perfectly on mine and others I have seen with appropriate setup.

Ive had mick and the boyz do work to my 75 series and i just rang him the other day about a flip kit front and rear and shock hoops but i havent done the body lift yet and i dont have the cash so it will have to wait.
The boyz at superior do good work hope to see more pics of ya cruiser.....
Thanks Mac1cruz!
I have now got to get that poxy tray sorted! Problem in Perth is finding someone who will do the work! Anybody know anyone?

No I had my friends at ORE do it for me. They did a bangup job, took them 2 days. They also had great support from Superior Engineering via the phone. It is difficult to find places in Perth that will do the more extreme mods.

I have a alloy tray but iam going to build a steel tray one day and theres no weight on the back so mine likes to bounce around a bit.
Anyway make sure you show us some pics when you get a new tray and also some before and after pics when you redrill the spring perch and move the diff forward.....
