2H injector pumps

Post by croozer »

Hey Guys does anyone know if the 2H injector pumps are the same as the 12HT injector pumps. Cheers

Pretty sure they're not exactly the same.

Reckon at the very least the 12HT pump has a boost compensator, where the 2H pump didn't.

I'm sure one of the diesel or Yota gurus here can list all the differences and advise if there is any degree of interchangeability (yes, just I made that word up).

They are totally different in the governor section, one is a pnuematic/mechanical (2h), the 12ht is a full mechanical with boost compensater. Will they swap over? i dont know, one engine is direct injection the other not.

What is your reason for knowing??

Well my car wont turn off and i was told it was the edic motor switch on the side of the injector pump because it turns off when i push the switch thing to the front of the car and i tried pulling it apart to clean it thinking it was sticky but it still doesnt work. i am able to get ahold of a few injector pumps to try but i think they are all 2H.

Try cleaning and finding out where the pump's -ve earth wire is. Could be stuffed or worn. Mine wont turn off sometimes...but thats because its got a dodgy earth

I found on my 60 series Sahara that the shut down on the pump is via a electrically operated vacumn solenoid that moves the rack to the no fuel position. When I lost the alternator belt, I lost the operation of the vacumn pump that is mounted on the back of the alternator, so the result was a very hard brake pedal and of course no way to shut down the 2H. If this solenoid is not working or leaking than no stopping!! Of course there is no DDEC motor here.

I Think you'll find the fuel delivery on the 12HT pump is greater. If you run a 2H pump on a 12HT you'll most likely being running too lean. Turning up the fuel will help but wont be able to match the delivery of the 12HT pump as the nozzles are bigger in the pump and injectors.
Make sure the EDIC relay (drivers side kick panel) is functioning correctly as well. It is far more likely to be and EDIC system fault than a pump fault. I certainly wouldn't be going to the effort of changing a pump just to see if it fixes it.
Cheers
