Trying to decide on wheels\tyres
I am selling my current 15x8 mag wheels and pretty much new 31x10.5 tyres to allow for an upgrade as part of my build up (Lexus v8, bar work, raising).
The truck is driven 50/50 for offroad\onroad so please keep that in mind when helping me make a decision. Also, any wheels I talk about buying will be steel rims to allow more $ for rubber (and the truck needs to look nice and neat but is about function not form).
WHEELS
I want some extra track width to make the ride stabler as I will now have 5" of lift (3 susp, 2 body). I was going to achieve this by going to a 15x10 wheel. However the friendly guys at BBM recommended against this as the 15x10 is more likely to have the tyre roll off at lower pressure.
So my options are:
1 - Go the 15x10 anyway to increase track width and stability (anywhere from $240 to $500)
2 - Go with current mags (less $ for rubber) or old sunraysias from the shed (repainted - maximum $ for rubber) at 15x8 (no track width increase)
3 - Have my spare 15x8 sunraysias modified to increase offset by 1-2" and paint ($200)
Advice please?
RUBBER
I have fallen in love with the new Mickey Thompson Radial MTZ. I drive some mud, mostly rock. At 33x12.5 they are $310 per corner and Mickey Thompson govern the price so bye bye bargain.
Anyone want to recommend a good aggressive offroad tyre that is comfy onroad at a good price? Don't mind $ being high for good material (these MTZs are about my limit but dont want tp spend $ on name only).

i have 33x12.5x15 sticky mickys on 15x8 on my patrol and there fine. if you want to increase your track width go a bigger offset wheel or get some wheel spacers i personally think 10in is to wide for that tyre. i also no a lot of people that run that size fun country 2s on 15x8s and they dont complain. i also think you could get a better price try ACE tyres in smithfeild i know for a fact that they sell fc2s for $250 a corner.

Stability is more an issue of Offset not rim size.
33x12.5 be fine on 15x8"s with -25 offset.
I would buy new rims manufactured with the offset, and sell the 31"s on rims
I was told 2 things
Apparently 15x8s dont come with a -25 offset (at least sunnies anyway)
and
15x10 would give me track width, apparently (I cant remember the full explanation I was given at Fourbys).
So I will go with 15x8s but either need to find someone who will sell me the sunraysias with the -25 offset or get my old sunnies modified (cheaper I think - about $50 per corner) then painted.

ROH did -22mm (not -25mm). My bad - big difference there.
There are others. But that's just an example.
At $50 or so a rim *to modify* (edit) I'd rather just buy new ones for $70-$80 or so.
Ask ryano... he'd know whats out there.

Arctic Treads quoted 70 for white, 90 for black.MQ080 wrote:15x8 -28 offset will cost about $55 ea
I am thinking of going with BBM at $100 (cannot recall offset from that quote, this was a week ago before I learnt exactly what I wanted). They where steel but US Daytona rims instead of sunraysias. Looked stronger?

think jamie or the other boys at fouby's will help... buy some 15x 8 mags with the widest offset possible eg how the patrol boys buy cruiser offset...Beastmavster wrote:Clown Boy wrote:Fourby's? hes on holidaysBeastmavster wrote: Ask ryano... he'd know whats out there.
I'm sure some of the other guys could help you there. Or the guys at Artic Cool Treads (where I got my current 16x8 -25 rims btw)
