Hey i was just wondering if this has been covered on here b4? i have seen it done a few times and was considering putting a series 1 or 2 LR ute body on my rangie as the old body is a but rusty and beaten up. What would be involved in the conversion..

Yes it has been done many times. The normal way to do it is to weld outriggers and a rear crossmember onto the rangie chassis to make it like a defender chassis. The mogrover was done using a different mathod - using rock sliders which connected to all the body mounts, and the sliders were then welded/bolted to the rangie chassis.
Getting it aproved is another matter. I have heard that Transport has made body-swap approvals and engineering inspections a lot tougher...

Speaking of strange body swaps, I once wrecked a stage 1. The guy that bought almost all the panels was planning to fit a LR body onto a holden panel van chassis. I have seen holden bodys on LR chassis, but not the other way around.
He had approval from an engineer, but the engineer wouldn't let him weld anything to the chassis...
