hey all the 60's fuel tank has got a leak, all hoses are ok although it looks like where the bottom strap holds the tank (driver side) it has rusted through a bit, whats the best thing to use to patch it up. Also broke the heads off the bolts off the strap that holds the tank up (rear of car, not hinge end) what can i do????????????????

There is some glue/resin stuff that I've seen in the local Repco store that would fix your tank, can't remember what it is, but I'll try to find out. Apparently it is relatively new on the market is that strong that your tank would get another hole before this stuff fails. (well so they say... the fella even asked me to try and break a demo display they had on the counter, I bashed it on the counter and threw it pretty hard onto the floor a coupla times. Now, with your snapped bolts.... heres what I done when I done the same thing about 18months ago.
1. Drain, and drop the tank out.
2. Drill out the old/snapped bolts.
3. Using a die grinder tool with mini cutting disc, cut a small hole into the side of that C channel to get in behind. This will allow you to insert another bolt from the back(poking outwards from the hole you redrilled)
4. With the desired bolt in place, weld in place.
5. Replace tank, fitting straps back up to the new bolts with matching nuts.
It is quite an easy job really, just a bit fiddly with the die cutting discs as they break easily and you have to be patient with them

Cheers brighty, i got this "plastic steel" stuff (comes with little 2 tubes of cream looking stuff that create a bond when mixed together, so ill see how it goes, as far as the bolts go ive got some "easy outs" so ill see how they go.
ide like to have it all back together by tomorrow arvo so i can take it to the exhaust shop to get my 3" system done, i dunno what my chances are

Yeah, easiouts were a no go with mine. They were too rusted together on the inside from all the mud and crap that got in there. Obviously the 'Ezi-Outs' worked hey. They usually aren't much chop with bolts that have rusted in or bottomed out and snapped off. Takes too much tension to turn them out.
At least all is good and your on the road again. How'd the exhaust go? Must sound sweet now I would think.

yas were right the "Ezi-Outs" were a no go, so i had to do a bitta modifying (now i know some of yas will not be real happy with my modifications, but it had to be done) I drilled out the old bolts then, drilled through the floor. i strengthened the floor using some steel plates and long high tensile bolts and wella! beautiful! Tank was back in. I thought about a tank from the wreckers but too much 'CBF' goin and buying one, specially when i knew where the tiny leak was comming from. Im not sure what the Cruiser sounds like yet, as soon as i post this ill leave to go and get it! So excited!!!!!!

Got the Exhaust!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3.5" dump pipe off the back of the turbo to a 3" mandrel bent system with no muffler or resonator and holy hell does it sound good but the biggest bonus is the power it has now I cant beleive its the same car!!!!!!
