Anyone like/know about Mickey Thompson MTZ's?
Moderators: toaddog, TWISTY, V8Patrol, Moderators
I liked them enough to go buy em after a friend had them on his 105 series, but have found them too big for my usage (315/75/R16 or 35").
Quiet, suprisingly so given the tread pattern.
Very easy to balance.
There's a lot of meat on them, most people apparently will get 60,000+km out of them, including giving them hell.
(btw mine are for sale...

the tyres that you have that i can see in the for sale section are Dick Cepek (Micky Thompson) FC II's????physh wrote:I liked them enough to go buy em after a friend had them on his 105 series, but have found them too big for my usage (315/75/R16 or 35").

Had them on my patrol in a 265/16 for towing reasons and now they are on the miss pajero and are a very well behaved tyre on road Quiet and are wearing really well. Had em on a dirt road today tryn to hand the rear out and the buggers wouldnt let go of the road As far as off road in low range i havent had em in that situation yet.
GUBUG if ya riped a sidewall then it musta been harsh as the new mickeys have one of the strongest sidewalls of any road/offroad tyre.
Cheers Jamie

Re: tyres
Sorry bout the slight thread hijack... But reason for sale is trying to get some cash together to buy a ute and bike.klrevo wrote:yeh when i saw that the FC II's were 305/70 i thought you must have had both...but why are you selling BOTH>?? i know everythings for sale for the right price, but still? is there a reason why???
dean
Both are for sale for the right price, whichever sells first I'm happy to use the others...
Back on topic, the MTZ's look the goods, and are strong as hell.

rock=vgood
road=vgood
noise=fine
fast gravel=vgood
sand= ok but on first impressions they dig more than i expected 18lb in really soft shit --20lb and they will work ok
wear=nearly got 20 000 on mine already and look like it'll be at least 60 000 maybe more... everyones been shocked to see how good they look at this many km's.
Price= Talk to ryano the rubber god at fourby's marooka when he gets back from tripping around the country side
am overdue for a balance and rotation sorry ryano but will get there but seem to hold balance muh longer than previous rubber.

does anyone think these will be as good if not better than the claws in mud.. cos mine sure seem chunkier than the claws.. mine are nearly as agressive as my creepies.... the centres would be better than the creepies jsut the outer lugs are not quiet as good..
the only reason i ask is cos on the web site they say that MTZ's are 60%mud 40%road and the claws are 80%mud and 20% road...
