LPG gas kits on wrangler tj's

Post by Nick B »

Does anyone on here have there TJ on Gas?

Is it Direct injection Gas or standard gas kit?

Where have you put the tank?

What size tank?

What does it cost to run?

What did you pay for the kit?

And Most importantly was/is it worth it?

Only thing thats putting me off getting a Tj ATM is the gay fuel cost and economy.

Apparantly the 4.0L doesnt go with gas very well (at least what I have read).

I get 11-12L/100 out of my TJ with sedate driving.

If you give it hell, it chews petrol but you don't need to for every day driving.

Even on 31's it's not that bad on fuel.

I wouldn't bother with the gas conversion -- you can buy A LOT of petrol for $3000.

Then again, it would probably only take you 4-6 months of driving to pay the gas conversion off, and then it's saving you a shitload.

So in reality, if you can do it cheap enough and retain the performance, it would be an awesome conversion for the TJ.

I'm looking at putting a Direct injection gas conversion in instead of a normal one which means you don't loose any power and you only loose 8 to 10 % on economy which is a significant saving but I really wouldn't mind hearing coments on how much the 6 likes gas. and what economy there getting now even if it petrol thanks for the reply's so far.

yes gas goes quite well on jeep motors, i dont think they have released a injected kit for a jeep yet but i do know that sprintgas and apollo do a multi-fit kit for 4,5,6,8 cylinder motors, after many years of fittng LPG to cars the new injection setups are a dream compared to the old airvalve style, GONE ARE THE DAYS OF BACKFIRES AND BLOWN UP AIRBOXES.
