i got bored

Post by built4thrashing »

was bored the other weekend and couldnt go anywhere as i was a bit unwell from the night before :drinking: :drinking: so i pulled off the plastic sill covers and found the side rails were rusted out. so i went to work QUIETLY
I pulled the rails off the body and have made some alloy checkerplate sill covers and put some red LED clearence lights in the old spot weld holes.

havent quite finished it yet but will post a pic when im done

hope you sealed the plate on or it will sweat and cause more rust just use some blue or black silicone around the edges and press it on

Pull the plugs that run the length of your sills (on the inside of the Zuk) and pour in some fish oil/sump oil via a funnel. Shouldn't rust then :D

Remember pics when you finish.

Original idea with the LED's B4T. Certainly different. Wouldn't want to get pulled up with them on of a night time though :D

I love the mod how hard is it to remove the spot welds and what did you use to remove them anglegrinder?
I personally hate the plastic.... the checkerplate trim looks good! The leds well thats very smart! I've got to get my soldering iron out.. plus I got to install from Supercrap some blue leds for under zook.. I'm betting the car will go faster with leds!!

cheers

the spot welds just came out with the side rails. the rails were so rusted out the fell apart when i took the plastic covers off and when i tore off the rails the spot welds came off with them. all i used was a pair of pliers. The LED's are just 5mm crome leds from Jaycar . drill a hole so the leds screw into them. They are wires to the lights ATM but might swap them over to the indicators
