The age old GQ lift on a budget ?
The age old GQ lift on a budget ?
I can get my hands on some 3" coils for a GQ for a good price (I think anyway) what else will I need to get to make this work. I'm guessing longer shocks, longer front brake lines, and castor adjusters.
Anything else or would it just be better to get a complete kit. I want to run a set of 33s

Dan just told me 1/3 of bump travel is the max height you can lift. He said he hasnt found out if that includeds shocks etc or if it from the shortest distance ie if u measure a patrol there is more travel in the rear..there for the bump reading is different to the front. The other thing he said is that that height (1/3) is from the factory to technically if its a few years old no body could know the exact amount. He searched case historys in QLD and hasnt found anyone that has taken it to task...so there you go...Bret
my other car's a GU
on my GQ i did 3" coils and shocks to suit n found my diffs were offset to far to one side so then i did adjustable panhard rods, n i have no need for castor correction it drives great but the front brake line is border line i just undid the clip that holds it to chasis and its all good now.
GQ LWB TD42, boost, lockers etc

I got castor bushes, next time I would get plates, but I definitely wouldn't do 3" lift without some kind of castor correction, personally.
I got one longer brake line as well, and longer swaybar links.
Got my coils, shocks, castor bushes, brake line and swaybar links off 4WD Stuff on this forum, seemed like good prices to me.
My plan was to fit them myself but I ended up getting my mechanic to do it... glad I did too because he had a bitch of a time.
