1984 Hilux fitted with 253 Holden V8 wiring problems

Post by Tassie Trent »

(1) Can anyone post a picture/diagram of a 1984 factory diesel model instrument panel showing what lights are where e.g.- charge light, brake, parh brake, glow ect, ect. (2) which colour is the instrument panel charge light wire (exiter wire) that i need to connect to the holden alternator (originally being a diesel there 4 wires going to the alternator - thin BLACK , thin BLUE , thin GREEN , heavy WHITE. (3) Now being fitted with a holden V8 , how do you correctly wire up the holden alternator to suit the hilux engine bay wiring. (with a holden you run your charge wire directly from the alternator to the battery. But according to my hilux manual the original heavy WHITE alternator wire runs to the fuse box in the engine bay ,goes through a fuse , then it comes out & runs to the battery. IM Totally Confussed & gratefull of any help- Trent (0438177776) or circleworkcowboy@bigpond.com cheers!

hey mate with mine (82 lux x-deisel) it used to run from the alternator to the external voltage regulator and then to the battery, i'd say yours would be the same. The holden alternator is normaly internaly regulatored so I now have the mane charge wire going straight from the back of the alternator the the battery. In mine it runs only a charge light not a guage that is hooked to the thin blue wire ( i'm not sure of the colouring for your moddel. I hope this helps.
