is it possiable to adjust the injection pump of our standard IHZ moter to give it more power
I understand it will use more fuel by doing this

You can, there's a full load set screw at the back (cabin side) of the pump. I'd recommend going to see a diesel tuning shop and get them to do it, along with a slight advance in timing. It shouldn't cost you more than a couple of hundred bucks and it's a lot better than you guessing. You won't necessarily use more fuel either, depends on how it's set up. The advanced timing can give them more torque, butcan make them a bit rattly when cold, and a little (slightly) smokey, however the power gains are worth it.
You might find changing your driving style for a diesel will give you more power as well. Try (while driving uphill) slowly backing off the accelerator until you feel an increase in power - thats the sweet spot you want to be on and is giving you the optimum air/fuel ratio.
