79 series Gearbox
Just started getting a load bearing noise in my 79 series ute, with 120kms on it. had a family member drop a sleeve in his at 100kms but just wondering if anyone else is having this problem?
Cost cutting.... not as clunky/notchy as the bigger box... however my G52 is more notchy and clunky than my mates 80 series80UTE wrote:My kids lego 4B's use the same box, O/K for a kids toy but not a Cruiser have replaced a few with a real gearbox in 78's and 100's. What was Toyota thinking when they did it.
Wally
How easy is the swap wally?
Cheers,
Dan.

Re: 79 series Gearbox
My father's went about 50kms while I was towing my MQ. Replaced by Toyota but the box is the weakest part of the truck IMO.Rum 79 wrote:Just started getting a load bearing noise in my 79 series ute, with 120kms on it. had a family member drop a sleeve in his at 100kms but just wondering if anyone else is having this problem?
for $3g you should be able to pick up the parts from a wrecker like Wally has suggested and change over to a H series...Rum 79 wrote:looks like a sleve has come out, and destroyed the main shaft and the transfer input shaft, going to be well over $3g!!
have seen this happen before too. They generally will replaec the sleeve with a afterarket replacement, im actually having one engineered so it shouldnt happen again
Cheers,
Dan.

another shameless plug.
the h series box is definatly the only option in cruisers
dont waste cash trying to engineer a r series box to be better
it never will be
