Cleaning oil leak

Post by physh »

Gotta get my leaky 1992 FJ75 over the pits, i need to clean it up good underneath... Any good suggestions for how to get rid of the oily, dirty buildup of a few years worth of leakage and dirt?

Or bite the bullet and pay for a detail? (darn near 10% of the car's worth!!!)

do you have a compressor? you can get guns that will spray degreaser from a pot similar to a spray gun. 50/50 mix with kero/ct18 truckwash, let it soak then get under it with a gerni. get some raincoat, goggles etc and be prepared to lie on your back and get wet

I've found the auto-shine (?) self wash thingy near my place has a good de-greaser option. You spray it on, leave it there for a few mins to soak while u wash the rest of the car, and then blast it off with the pressure gun.

I empty a few aerosol cans of degreaser (the $2.50 stuff) onto it, leave it for five mins then pressure wash it off. Seems to do a really good job of it! Easier than brushing the stuff on/off too.
