Tensioner Bearing

Post by kirragc »

Heres one I havent come across before.

Put on the aircon the other day and started to smell smoke (burned rubber type) so turned it off a gain.
Underbonnet inspection showed aircon compressor spinning intermitantly when engaged. OK looks like the compressor front bearing on the way out..

Nup the tensioner has chewed up its bearing big time. The belt would just load up and slip a bit.

So question is bearing price and/or part number ??
Can anyone advise on this? BTW 93 Mav TD42 NA
What, haven't you ever done lines of International Roast off a hookers back with $100 notes?

DId you end up getting this fixed.
As I did a couple in my old shorty when I used to play in the mud alot. Pretty easy to replace, mine was only one bolt. I spent more time trying to get the belt back on then replaceing the pully.
THink cost could have been $30 for the pully, but could have been $5 also. As it was ages ago.
I also got it from an Auto a/c place. Bearing joint didnt have one.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
