Hi all,
My 80 series (97 TD Auto Non ABS) brake pedal is quite spongy. Like, it nearly goes to the floor when you first get in. It pumps up after 2 pumps to what you would expect, but if pushed hard it seems to creep down slowly.
Whilst driving, the brakes work excellent. They will lock wheels and almost make you bite the wheel if you try hard enough.
Is this a common 80 thing or is my master cylinder on the way out??
Cheers,
Alec

Is the car running when the pedal feels spongy?Surfin Alec wrote:Hi all,

could be a leaky master cylinder. In fact if the pedal goes down it surely is that.
I think the factory master seems to last about 250thousand k's. (did in my hj60 anyway)
